This time last year our entire family was here in PNG; including Stephen. After the Bible dedication we started a familiar journey. We flew out of Goroka to Port Moresby, spent a couple of days there and then flew back to the US. Of course a few weeks after that the Lord changed the direction of our travels.

This year the four of us are here in Goroka and getting ready to fly to Port Moresby. We’ll spend 2 days there before Daniel and I head back to the US. A couple of days later Judith and Timothy will fly to the town of Madang, in PNG, and spend the month of June at the NTM facility there helping out with the Interface missions program the introduces college age students to tribal church planting.

I have to say that I am more than a little conflicted as I prepare for this trip. It will be great to see Stephen but not great to do so without Judith. It is great that Judith can serve at the Madang centre helping the program for college students but it would be better yet having her serve her son who is heading off to college. And I could go on.

We see what God is doing in the world. We remember what He has done in Malaumanda and here at Lapilo. We see and know that He is good. In the present there are some details that we are a bit less clear about. Please be praying for us as we walk this somewhat uncertain road. It will be interesting to see what we have to share next month.

In Him,

Eric and Judith, Stephen, Daniel and Timothy

One of our last family meals before we leave. And yes, we ordered way more pizza than we could eat.
Daniel saying good bye to Nicky Aupe, one of his best friends.
We prayed for Daniel last Sunday at church. He was a huge blessing during his time here at Lapilo.

Prayer and Praise

  • Praise that we are all in good health
  • Pray for Judith, Timothy, Daniel and I as we travel to Port Moresby. I trust that we will have a good couple of days together before heading our separate ways.
  • Pray for Judith and Timothy. They are going to help out in Madang though Judith is not really sure what that will entail. She knows that she will be baking.
  • Pray for Daniel and I as we get back to Oregon. We still have a lot of plans to sort out once we get to Oregon including finding a job for Daniel. Praise that we have a vehicle to use while I am there.
  • Praise that Timothy completed his 9th grade year.
  • Praise for Stephen at Moody. He is well into the flight program now and just today he texted us that he did a solo cross-country flight. That basically means that he left Spokane, flew to one location, then a second location and then flew back to Spokane without his instructor. From the sounds of it he will be flying all over Washington state and probably Oregon and Idaho too.
  • Pray for Stephen as he has been working on our Jetta but the turbo is still not working correctly. Pray that he can find a good mechanic who can help with this.
  • Pray for Daniel as we try to find him a job for the summer before he heads to Bible school. It will be a summer of significant transition for him so Pray that he will lean on the Lord in the midst of this change.
  • Pray for the field of PNG. As a mission we are in the midst of quite a bit of personnel shift. Home assignments are seeing many people heading off so there will be a lot of flux.
