We mentioned in our last update that Covid has become more of an issue here in PNG. Well, not much has changed this past month. The covid cases are still going up and a number of restrictions are still in place. That being said, we still feel blessed to be here. The Lord is good and because of Him we still see the work move forward.
After a school break and a couple of weeks of distance learning all of the boys are now back in the classroom. Some of the students live offsite and are still distance learning but Lord willing everyone will be able to complete this school year. We are so thankful for the teachers here at Lapilo. This year they have worked very hard and been particularly creative when it comes to getting all of the students through the material needed in the midst of an ever changing environment.
Speaking of ever changing environment, we have had an interesting time with the different orientation classes that we are working with. We still have orientees from 3 different classes that are working towards completing their Tok Pisin study. Our goal is always to get the new missionaries out into the local community but there have been many times when that hasn’t been possible. We always want to function in the ideal but sometimes we need to look to the Lord for some divinely inspired creativity.
Judith continues to both help me with orientation and serve in the medical clinic. That and keeping 3 hungry boys fed keeps her pretty busy. It has been great to be able to serve together these days.
We are very thankful for everyone who prays for us and those who sacrificially give to our ministry here.
In Him,
Eric and Judith, Stephen, Daniel and Timothy
Prayer and Praise
- Praise that we have the health and strength to continue in the ministry here.
- Pray for Eric as he continues to work with the orientation classes to learn pidgin. So far so good.
- Praise that the boys are in school and Pray that there will not be any further disruptions for the final 6 weeks.
- Pray for there to be a reduction in new cases of Covid here in PNG.
- Pray for me as I continue to work on the final formatting for the Malaumanda New Testament. I’m currently in Luke so I have a ways yet to go.
- Pray for our schedule for the next couple of months. Between orientation and my consulting ministry, there will be many different tasks to balance.
- Pray for Judith as she works in the clinic and engages with the orientation ladies.
- Pray for tribal church planting to continue on here in PNG regardless of the covid related restrictions. God is always at work!
We have a good number of new Team Malaumanda t-shirts available for anyone who would be interested. We still have a few of the original design in black, white, and blue. We also have a new black t-shirt. It has a Team Malaumanda logo on the front. On the back, it declares that “God is Light” in 5 different languages (English, Malaumandan, Tok Pisin, Spanish, and German). If you are interested in the original t-shirt, there is a suggested donation of $10/shirt + shipping. The “God is Light” shirt is $12+shipping. If you are interested, please drop us a quick note at [email protected].
