There is nobody on this planet who isn’t seeking after peace and hope. On occasion some people might momentarily experience something like peace and hope but when years like 2020 roll around then circumstances alone don’t allow for this. With 2021 just a few days away are we trying to find peace and hope in the coming year? We’ll never find it if we don’t look to the Lord Jesus Christ who was more than able to give us Peace and Hope in 2020. I certainly hope for better circumstances in 2021 but lets not wait on that. We can always keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

The rest of this update will be a bit different as we will use videos to update you on some of what we are involved in at the moment. We hope that you enjoy this change of pace.

We do want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. We pray that even in the midst of Covid chaos that you will find peace and joy as you join the shepherds and wise men at the cradle. God has come near and He now lives in our hearts.

In Him,

Eric and Judith, Stephen, Daniel and Timothy

This is a short video that shows some aspects of our everyday life.
This short video gives a brief description of our ministries here in PNG.

Prayer and Praise

– Praise that we are more or less settled into our house here at Lapilo.
– Pray for Eric as he is in the midst of his first orientation class. Most of the information is well known but presenting it in a clear way is a new challenge. Praise that he gets to learn the program alongside a good friend, Derrick Dobbs.
– Praise that the boys are just about done with school for the semester. Daniel has 3 lessons, a quiz, a test and a midterm; all in Algebra 1. Pray for Daniel and I (Eric) as Algebra without a teacher isn’t fun. Praise that one of the new orientees is a very gifted math teacher. She has been a help already.
– Praise that we can be here in PNG with virtually no covid related issues; no lockdowns and virtually no known cases in the country.
– Pray for me as I try to arrange a trip into Malaumanda in February.
– Pray for the final formatting work to be done on the Malaumanda New Testament.
– Pray for Judith as she will start into the clinic sometime after the first of the year. She is waiting until the boys are both done with online school and about ready to start heading back to school.
– Pray for 2021 to be a year that will see the Gospel of Christ grow and expand in its influence here in PNG.

We have a good number of Team Malaumanda t-shirts (above) available for anyone who would be interested. We have a few of the original design in black, white and blue. We also have a new t-shirt (below)which is in black. It has a Team Malaumanda logo on the front. On the back it declares that God is Light in 5 different languages (English, Malaumandan, Tok Pisin, Spanish and German). If you are interested in the original t-shirt then there is a suggested donation of $10 per shirt plus shipping. The “God is light” shirt is $12. If you are interested then please drop us a quick note at [email protected]. Funds can be given via PayPal. Join Team Malaumanda and keep us in your prayers!

Website and YouTube channel

You may have noticed that we have been producing a few more videos of late than we did in previous years. It has always been our desire to communicate about our lives and ministry. Monthly updates are fine though they lack some oomph that a video can give. We will be attempting to produce more frequent short videos that are either about our family, our ministry or about missionary related topics. On this last topic we have started what should be a series of videos called “Lessons 2 Learn”.

In order to organize these videos we have created a YouTube channel (Eric Hedeen) and a web page (hedeensjourney.com). We don’t have everything sorted out quite yet but we’ll keep tweaking things until the web page, in particular, is where we want it. It should have all of our back updates, all our videos, and pictures of the family and pics from recent trips into the bush.

Go take a look. If you have any thoughts or ideas then drop us a line.
