The Lord transitioned us out of Malaumanda, and the Sepik region, in 2014. We knew that we would be going to Lapilo near Goroka but we certainly didn’t know what we would be doing. We are thankful for where the Lord has taken us and what He has us doing. That being said, we do enjoy getting back home to the Sepik and rubbing shoulders again with both old friends and new. There are new missionaries who are heading out in tribal groups in the bush and we are excited with them for what God is going to do in their journey.

This conference was different for us as a family as Daniel is a senior this year and thus it was his last Sepik conference before heading back to the US. It was a very special time for him as he was one of 6 young men who are graduating this year. On the last night of conference they each gave their testimony about what God has done in their lives during their time here. All of them have lived in the bush for a good portion of their lives and virtually all of their lives here in PNG. We are excited to see what God is going to do in Daniel’s life as well as the others. Many of them desire to come back to PNG as missionaries.

This year Judith and a couple other ladies were in charge on the conference dinners. This was a huge task as she prepped most of the food up in Goroka and then shipped it down. While this was a bit stressful it was also fun to see how other ladies jumped in and helped. She also enjoyed ladies night as they went to a local hotel for a nice meal out; which they didn’t have to cook.

We have another busy month ahead of us so our journey continues. We are thankful for each of your who pray and give towards the ministry opportunities that we have here. God is at work.

In Him,

Eric and Judith, Stephen, Daniel and Timothy

This was me at one of the Risk boards on Men’s night. This is a Sepik tradition that we all enjoy.

Prayer and Praise

  • Praise that we are healthy as a family. This includes Stephen as well.
  • Pray for Eric as he is in the midst of working on budgets for next year. This is a new, but so far, painless experience. Be Praying for all of the various tasks that he is balancing at the moment.
  • Pray for Eric as he will be going on a consultant trip on November 1st to help a tribal team with language and culture study. He has another trip for leadership meetings later on this month.
  • Pray for the Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) for the High Schoolers. This is an opportunity that grade 9-12 students have for spiritual challenge and enrichment. We pray that they will be challenged in their walk with the Lord. Pray for Judith as she is in charge of meals for SEW. Thankfully there are other ladies to help as well.
  • Praise that the boys are done with their first term in school. They have started their next term so Pray that they can quickly get back into the groove again.
  • Praise that Stephen was able to finish up his first cluster of classes. It was challenging but he did well in each class. All of the students have to score an 80% in order to move on so he can’t slack off.
  • Pray for me as I head in to the bush for a consultant visit. My desire is to encourage and help direct this team.
  • Pray for the final details for the Malaumanda New Testament printing. To say this has been more of a challenge than I expected would be a gross understatement. Even right now I am in the midst of challenging negotiations.
  • Pray for wisdom as an organization. There are several challenges these days as we look to find people to fill holes. In particular we are in need of teachers for next school year. HS Math, Science and English teachers are greatly needed.
  • Pray for stability in PNG, and in the world, as there is a lot of unrest. But even more than this may we be praying for the Gospel to go forth and find fertile soil.
Daniel at base camp (11,600′)
The whole group where they left the landcruisers.
High mountain lakes and rugged beauty.
The group at the summit of Mt Wilhem (14,793′). If it looks like it was cold you would be correct. It regularly snows on this mountain peak. Daniel is at the top left.
Was Daniel the first person to do yoyo tricks at the summit? Maybe.
