Starting to settle in

We finished our summer travels and are settling in to our time in Oregon

The beginning of this month we still found ourselves on the road. We were able to spend some time with Judith’s sister and family in Idaho. After that we went back up to Spokane for a few days to see Stephen before heading back to Dallas, Oregon. The Lord gave us the opportunity to connect with so many friends, family as well as people from our supporting churches who we haven’t seen in years. We are so thankful for the group of God’s people who support and encourage us. 

Another milestone blessing this month was Judith’s birthday. She turned 50 this year so in addition to our 25th anniversary this has been a significant year. The Lord has blessed us in amazing ways. We enjoyed a meal and cake as a family and then later that week the three of us went to the Oregon coast for an enjoyable day and a lunch at a Thai restaurant.  

While we are enjoying our time here in Oregon, we are realizing that at least in the short term we won’t have much of a normal routine. In October we have a trip up to Canada to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. This will be our first trip to see Judith’s family since we have been back. We then head back to Dallas for 1 1/2 weeks before Judith and I head off to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We have rarely been able to celebrated our anniversary while on the mission field so this will be a nice change.

Prayer & Praise

  • Praise that we safely completed our California, Idaho, and Washington road trip. We are thankful for all of our time spent with supporters.
  • Pray for more opportunities to share our ministry here in the Pacific Northwest. We are trusting the Lord to help us build up our support base. 
  • Pray for the provision of a second car as our Jetta was sold for parts. 
  • Pray for wisdom as we seek a life and ministry balance here in Oregon. 
  • Pray/Praise that Timothy is in a driver’s education program. He has classes and driving training 3 nights a week so this does fill up our schedule. 
  • Pray for Daniel to finalize the logistics for a new job that he has applied for.
  • Pray for Stephen as he adjusts to a new dynamic in his aviation training. 
  • Praise that Judith and I will be able to get away for our anniversary.
  • Pray for our time up in BC. We will get to spend some time with the work team that came to PNG earlier this year. I’ll also have 15 minutes to share at the Thanksgiving banquet. 
  • Continue to pray for the Malaumanda church and the outreaches that they are involved in. Pray also for me that starting in November I can get into a routine with my lesson writing. 
  • Praise for good health. But Pray for us to get into a good exercise routine. People fed us very well while we were on the road. 
  • Pray for some practical help as we need to replace the roof on our rental house here in Oregon.
